Services Provided
Decorative Concrete Stencilling, Sandblasting, Dust Containment
Objective:
ProStrip was engaged to sandblast 4,000 sqm of intricate decorative stencil patterns onto the concrete surfaces of Marvel Stadium's concourse, ensuring precision and minimal disruption.
Challenges:
- Strict Site Policies: As a Tier 1 site managed by John Holland, strict silica dust controls prohibited water usage due to a lack of slurry runoff systems.
- Noise Sensitivity: Noise restrictions required minimal disruption to nearby properties and businesses.
- Event Coordination: Work needed to align with Marvel Stadium's busy AFL event schedule.
- Stencil Complexity: Hundreds of laser-cut stencil pieces required precise surveying and application on-site.
Solution:
- Containment & Dust Control: Used a custom inflatable blast room and a 10,000 CFM dust collector to ensure a safe, dust-free environment.
- Noise Reduction: Employed Snake Bite sandblasting nozzles and custom encapsulation, reducing noise by up to 10 dB and eliminating disturbance to neighbors.
- Efficient Cleanup: Conducted HEPA vacuum cleanup, disposing of waste in dedicated silica bins.
- Event Coordination: Regular meetings and communication via Aconex ensured work adhered to the AFL schedule.
Outcome:
ProStrip completed the project to a high standard, with no disruptions to stadium events or local businesses. The primary contractor and CFMEU praised the innovative methods, and the indigenous artist expressed satisfaction with the precise execution of their designs.
